About

We are creating an anthology of stories from fat people who are involved in fitness/sports/athletics at all levels. The project may include first person stories, interviews, poetry, pieces rooted in academia, and art projects. This collection has four main goals:

  • Give fat people visibility that allows us to both be and have role models in the fitness world at every level
  • Give fat athletes a chance to tell our own stories rather than being talked about or at
  • Use the privilege that we receive from meeting some people’s definition of “good fatties” to help dismantle the good fatty/bad fatty dichotomy
  • Center voices that are marginalized within fat and fitness communities due to racism, ableism, healthism, sexism, classism, sizeism, ageism, transphobia, homophobia, and other oppressions and marginalizations
